Upgrading Trendnet TEW-510APB firmware to OSWave


Please make sure your Trendnet TEW-510APB AP is running Firmware v. 1.1.2.1 before you start. If it does not, then please make sure you upgrade to this firmware version before you proceed.

Upgrading from Trendnet TEW-510APB firmware to OSWave requires use of intermediary firmware. Both the intermediary firmware and OSWave 1.04R firmware (with Trendnet TEW-510APB support included) are available for download here:

AR5312_to_OSWave_Intermediary_Firmware_v.2.img
OSWave_2.05R.bin

Please make sure you have these files downloaded and available on your local disk before you proceed with upgrade.

We start by logging into Trendnet TEW-510APB web interface (on default IP address 192.168.1.250 with empty login and password "admin" if you did not change them):

After you click on "Administer" and "Firmware Upgrade" following screen will appear:

Please press the Browse button, browse for AR5312_to_OSWave_Intermediary_Firmware_v.2.img file and press Start to Upgrade.

And the firmware upgrade process will follow:

Upgrade process takes approximately 60 seconds after which the device will come up on IP Address 192.168.1.77.

Enter http://192.168.1.77 in your Web Browser and intermediary firmware screen appears:

Now, browse for OSWave_2.05R.bin file, press Submit and upgrade process will start.

The service firmware will check if your device can run OSWave. OSWave requires atleast 4MB of flash memory and there have been some devices manufactured that only have 2MB of flash memory. If Service Firmware recognizes that you are trying to upgrade that device type to OSWave you will see following screen:

If your device is not supported by OSWave then nothing wrong will happen - just use this file AR5312_2MB_Back_to_Original_Firmware.bin to downgrade back to the original firmware. After downgrade the device will be available again on it's default IP address 192.168.1.250.

If however your device is supported by OSWave then you will see the following screen:

Now, it will take about 120 seconds for first bootup and initial system reconfiguration, please make sure to not interrupt this operation.

After reboot the Trendnet TEW-510APB will come back up with OSWave firmware on it's default IP address: 192.168.1.251 (netmask 255.255.255.0). Please use your web browser and start at http://192.168.1.251 to see the following login screen:

Please use following default login/password to log into the device:

Login: admin
Password: public

to see Default System Information Page:

Downgrading Trendnet TEW-510APB running OSWave to the original firmware

If you at any time decide to downgrade OSWave firmware to the original Trendnet TEW-510APB firmware then please follow these simple steps:

In the OSWave system please go to the "Upgrade Firmware" link to see following screen:

Please locate appropriate return firmware for Trendnet TEW-510APB - OSWave_to_TEW510APB_original_fw.bin - and press the SUBMIT button to proceed with firmware upgrade. After few second following screen will appear:

Please allow about 90 seconds for firmware reflash (Please make sure you do not interrupt this process) and after that time your Trendnet TEW-510APB AP will again be available with it's default firmware and factory default configuration at http://192.168.1.250.
