Upgrading Ovislink WLA5000AP firmware to OSWave

In this example we are using firmware WLA-5000AP-APmode-v1.09e01.bin for Ovislink WLA5000AP or WLA-5000APv2-APmode-v1.09e10.bin or Ovislink WLA5000APv2 and we assume this firmware is already up and running on the device before we start.

To get started you must first login into WLA5000AP Web Management interface. The default IP address for that device is 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.2 (your configuration may vary if you have already altered it). After entering http://your_device_IP_address in the web browser you will see this stock firmware login screen (default password is "airlive"):

After you click on "System Tools" following screen will appear:

Now you have to enter your password (default password is "airlive") to proceed to the next step.

Please download the OSWave 1.04R firmware file for WLA5000AP/WLA5000APv2 you want upload to the device and press Upgrade button.

The Upgrade Process will take approximately 45 seconds and it is very important to make sure it is not interrupted. After the firmware upgrade is finished the following screen will appear:

Now, please don't click on the "YES" button just yet. Please allow additional 10 seconds to make sure the device finishes writing new firmware to the flash memory. While this may sound unecessary it actually is a very good idea to wait that additional time - we have seen situations where device was still writing to the flash memory while the Firmware Upgrade Finished screen appeared and pressing YES in that case caused the firmware to be corrupted. To avoid that please wait that additional 10 seconds and then press YES to have the device rebooted.

After reboot (it will take about 60 seconds for first bootup and initial system reconfiguration) the device will come back up with OSWave firmware on it's default IP address: 192.168.1.251 (netmask 255.255.255.0). Please use your web browser and start at http://192.168.1.251 to see the following login screen:

Please use following default login/password to log into the device:

Login: admin
Password: public

to see Default System Information Page:

Downgrading Ovislink WLA5000AP running OSWave to the original firmware

If you at any time decide to downgrade OSWave firmware to the original WLA5000AP firmware then please follow this simple instruction:

In the OSWave system please go to the "Upgrade Firmware" link to see following screen:

Please locate appropriate firmware for your Access Point (manufacturers original firmware files for supported devices are available on our web page) and press the SUBMIT button to proceed with firmware upgrade. After few second following screen will appear:

Please allow about 60 seconds for firmware reflash (Please make sure you do not interrupt this process) and after that time your WLA5000AP will again be available with it's default firmware and factory default configuration at http://192.168.1.1.
